I started dancing when I was 10 years old when my mother and sisters made me dance with them. By 12 – 13, I was dancing with my friends at each other’s house to the old 45 records. As teenager I would attend all of the school and church dances. The school and church dances continued until the end of High School. From 1971 – 1989 My wife and I would go out dancing and having a good time.
I mostly learned different dance steps, the usual C&W dances, from friends until around 1989. I wanted to learn more, so I started taking dance lessons with one of the local dance studios. I wanted to know the how, why, when, and timing of organized dance. In 1998 I joined the BAWDC and the journey began in the dance that truly love. It was around 1999 that I did my first competition in WCS. I danced, attended lessons, and entered all of the local dance competitions up until 2007. I did do some traveling to other cities for dance competitions but not a lot.
I started helping as a substitute instructor in 1999, and I have been involved in dance instruction ever since.
