Some time ago, my husband and I found Bay Area Whip Dance Club. The convenient location, the dedication of the instructors, and great social atmosphere has led to 12 years of fun and fellowship that I would not trade. The Club strives to be sure each student learns the foundational basics of West Coast Swing and that has allowed us to go anywhere in the World and be able to dance with others.
No. We rotate in every level so a dance partner is not necessary.
No. The less dance experience you have, the less bad habits you have. Our basic class is for beginners who have never danced before or at least have never danced West Coast Swing before.
Casual Attire. Dance shoes or shoes with a leather sole.
Dance shoes is all you will need.
No problem. We have places to sit and rest if you need to.
Either in your pocket, or under one of the chairs, or on the stage, or on the window sill. Your call!
If you have a medical condition but are able to stand for an hour and move around, you can participate in the class. If you have an injury that limits your standing or flexibility, you should not participate. We do not want you to injure yourself more than you already are injured.
No problem. If you miss something, we repeat our syllabus every month. You can catch what you missed the next time around.
Testimonials on BAWDC
I was introduced to the Bay Area Whip Dance Club by happenstance. I was invited to a fifth week party by an acquaintance. I was fascinated watching the people dance so I came back for an introductory lesson the next week. I’d had little to no real dance instruction. That was nearly six years ago, the fun goes on. I have made great friends and have had an absolutely marvelous time, on the dance floor or in the coffee shop. We laugh together, cry together and most importantly dance together. “Dance like no one is watching”!
After 20 years of not dancing, I was made aware of BAWDC, and as a result my husband and I have now been dancing for three years. There is dance class on Tuesday’s and social dancing on Thursday’s, so we have two date nights a week. I was simply looking to be able to dance a slow dance at a wedding or reunion, but now my husband is blazing a trail with me on the dance floor.
